The WJMA control room in October 1970. The control board is a Gates SA-40. It was replaced in 1971. The control room faces Studio A and Spicers Mill Road. To the left is a rack of tape cartridges most of which were probably commercials. They were played on the two cart machines at the right. The one on top is a Tapecaster Model 700P, the one below is a Spotmaster.
Note there are three turntables in the control room. Until the advent of cart machines most commercials were read live or play from a record.
