Baseball was quite popular in Central Virginia througout the 1950s. In this picture from the November 1, 1951 Orange Review, Virginia Baseball Commissioner Billy Williams presents a trophy to Earl Haney manager of the Inter-County champion team from Gordonsville. Behind them on the left is WJMA manager "Tubby" Walthall.
The presentation was at the DeVivi club which made it convenient for WJMA to broadcast the event since the WJMA studios were in the same building.
