Russ Roberts in the WJMA control room in 1974. At the left side is a Spotmaster cart machine. The control board in front of Russ is a QRK 8 channel mono model that dates from about 1970. The board was moved to studio A in the Fall of 1976 when an Ampro stereo board was placed in the control room. There's a picture of the stereo board in the "places" gallery.
The cart machine in the left center of the picture is a Tapecaster Model 700-RPD. It could both record and play and was used to proved a short delay for talk programs.
The turntables are old Gates models that were at least 15 years old in this picture. They are the same turntables in the earlier picture of the unknown announcer.
